NZ Architectural Publications Trust -- Jasmax

MEDIA RELEASE

NZ Architectural Publications Trust -- Jasmax

Have you ever walked past a building and wondered who designed it? why it was built in such a way and what reasoning lay behind its façade? Architecture and design play a significant part in our day to day lives, and we hardly ever question why things are designed and built the way they are.

It is time to stop wondering and start discovering, as a book documenting some of New Zealand’s most significant buildings, designed by New Zealand’s largest architectural practice is now on sale.

Major Jasmax projects found here include (but are by no means limited to); the University of Auckland Recreation Centre 1977, Waikato Museum of Art and History 1982, Congreve House Auckland 1993, Te Papa Tongarewa Wellington 1998, Auckland Town Hall refurbishment 1998 and Civic Theatre restoration 1999, ASB Bank C-Drive Albany 2001, Auckland Hospital 2003, Britomart Transport Centre Auckland 2003, Auckland University of Technology Art and Design Building 2004 Business School 2005 and various Akoranga Campus buildings, University of Auckland Fale Pasifika 2004, Wither Hills Winery Blenheim 2005 and Summit Apartment Building Wellington 2005.

From houses to hospitals, libraries to schools, the Jasmax Book delves into the meaning and thought processes behind buildings that you walk past everyday.

The Jasmax book is the third in the series of the New Zealand Architectural Publications Trust’s monographs on the work of contemporary New Zealand architects.

The Trust was founded in 2002 with the objective of producing a series of books describing the best of New Zealand architecture. The Trust’s intention has always been to produce publications, which were neither marketing exercises nor coffee-table books, but rather addressed an informed audience of architects and those interested in architecture.
