Amisfield Winery Appoints High Profile Executive Chef
Amisfield Wine Company has appointed celebrated Queenstown chef Joff Bertram as executive chef at its award winning Bistro at Lake Hayes.
Bertram is the former owner of the historic Bathhouse Restaurant on Queenstown's Marine Parade. From this week he replaces Daniel Monopoli who has worked with Amisfield since the Bistro opened in 2005.
General manager Fleur Caulton paid tribute to Monopoli's contribution to the establishment of the Bistro which was named as New Zealand's Best Winery Restaurant in the 2006 Cuisine Restaurant of the Year awards.
"Daniel had passion and flair and a strong adherence to high standards which has helped build the Amisfield image as an outstanding dining experience."
She welcomed the appointment of Joff Bertram who owned the Bathhouse for six years and prior to that held a number of key positions in hotels and restaurants in both New Zealand and Australia.
Bertram was trained at Ryde College in Sydney graduating with distinction; going on to win many awards in restaurant and culinary competitions he brings considerable skill and experience to Amisfield says Ms Caulton.
"The Bistro is all about the discovery of food and our 'grown not made' sustainable approach sets us apart. We have a strong commitment to innovation and quality at the Bistro and Joff has a similar philosophy which has been reflected in his previous ventures. We are fortunate to have someone of his calibre joining our Bistro."
