Qantas Television Awards under way
The search is on again this year to find the best television talent in the country. Entries for the 2007 Qantas Television Awards opened online today, (Tuesday, June 5th) to all free to air broadcasters. www.qantastvawards.co.nz.
New Zealand Television Broadcasters’ Council Chairman Brent Impey said, “It’s a great time to be in television broadcasting with record hours of production and digital freeview on air offering expanding opportunities for the production industry”.
For the first time this year, the battle lines will be officially drawn between Close Up on TV ONE and TV 3’s Campbell Live. A new award, Best Current Affairs Reporting for a Daily Programme will recognise the increasingly competitive 7 o’clock timeslot.
A team of expert national and international judges will again deliberate on the Awards, which recognise excellence right across the board in all free to air television, broadcast between August 2006 and August 2007.
The winners of this year’s Qantas Television Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony in Auckland on Saturday 24th November. The show will be screened at 9pm on TV One.
