Kai Time Back On The Road For Maori Television

Maori Television's irrepressible chef Pete Peeti is back dishing up more mouth watering servings of his tasty food show KAI TIME ON THE ROAD - premiering on Sunday June 3 at 7.00 PM.

Pete has wowed everyone with his fresh, no-nonsense cooking style and inspiring recipes. His food is reassuringly hearty but not too fiddly, and in this fifth series he always seems to have his hands full of fresh herbs, live produce and olive oil.

Pete is flying solo this time around, spending more time with the tangata whenua and listening to their stories of feasts and food gathering.

Pete says the show has evolved into something more than 'just a cooking show'.

"There are plenty of cooking and hunting shows but I think we do more justice to the people of the land and their food gathering, preparation and eating experiences. That's why we made the decision to involve our hosts more - I get to spend more time talking with them and learning from them than ever before."

The new series of KAI TIME ON THE ROAD sees Pete go to some extreme lengths to catch fresh kai - in one truly memorable episode, he dives for eels without a suit.

Pete is a professional chef with lots of experience in marae kitchens as well as restaurants and cafes. In 1990, his culinary skills received national recognition when he won the prestigious Apprentice of the Year Award. For 10 years, Pete was head chef at a flash Rotorua restaurant calledf Rendezvous.

KAI TIME ON THE ROAD is produced by Maui Productions who also produce WHATUKURA and TOA O AOTEAROA.

Join Pete as he cooks up a storm in all-new episodes of KAI TIME ON THE ROAD screening on Maori Television every Sunday at 7.00 PM from June 3.
