AMP deepens its commitment to New Zealand golfers

AMP Financial Services today announced it is to further support golf in New Zealand through sponsorship of Golf Tour New Zealand’s (GTNZ) tournament at Titirangi Golf Club in Auckland on 4-7 October 2007 to be known as the “AMP Titirangi Open."

AMP currently runs 18 well-regarded AMP regional golf tournaments throughout New Zealand. It is a past sponsor of the New Zealand Golf Open and was a presenting level sponsor at the 2007 New Zealand PGA, held at Clearwater in February.

Allan Hopson, AMP Financial Services General Manager of Marketing and Strategy, says the GTNZ tour will help New Zealand golfers achieve their dreams and goals.

“AMP and golf have been synonymous for many years. The AMP Titirangi Open is an exciting extension of our ongoing commitment to golf.

“AMP’s goal is providing financial security to Kiwis and supporting New Zealand’s largest participatory sport is consistent with that objective.

“We’re delighted to be working with GTNZ to help our top amateurs hone their skills in a competitive environment and help them bridge the gap between being a top amateur and a professional golfer.

“We’re also pleased to help local professionals pursue their chosen profession in a New Zealand based tour. And, the opportunity to see top golfing talent on famous New Zealand courses like Titirangi, is an exciting prospect."

“AMP Advisers are very much part of the local communities in which they operate and we’re very keen to support them at a local level. Providing sponsorship to a locally based event like the AMP Titirangi Open enables AMP to support our Advisers in a tangible way, “ says Hopson.
