Nominations for the 2007 Radio Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards are now open, who will shine as the next Wellington Sportsperson of the Year?
The Radio Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards, organised by Sport Wellington, is one of the most prestigious events in Wellington's Sporting Calendar. The awards recognise the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, teams, clubs, volunteers and sports administrators.
Today, this event is recognised as a prestigious sporting awards event in the Wellington region. Winners of the awards include some of the biggest names in New Zealand sport, like Michael Campbell – Golf, Tana Umaga – Rugby and George Bridgewater – Rowing. Other winners have included, Melissa Moon – Mountain Running and Don Tricker – Softball
The qualifying period for the 2007 Radio Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards is 18 April 2006 to 10 April 2007. Nominations are now open. National and regional sporting organisations, clubs, media and general public can nominate athletes, teams, coaches, clubs, volunteers and administrators who excel in their chosen sporting pursuits.
Nominations close 12noon, Friday 27 April 2007 and nomination forms can be downloaded from www.sportwellington.org.nz.

This year's awards dinner is being held on Wednesday, 6th June in the Duxton Hotel Ballroom.Guests will enjoy pre-dinner drinks, a three course dinner and the opportunity to mix and mingle with the region's top sports stars and personalities.
