Dragon to perform live at The Lindeman's Longest Australian Lunch
Iconic Kiwi band, Dragon will be performing their only public concert in Auckland at The Lindeman's Longest Australian Lunch on Friday 27 April, as part of G'Day NZ Australia Week 2007.
Famous for their classic hits April Sun in Cuba, Are you Old Enough and Still in Love with You, Dragon was founded in Taumarunui in the early 1970's by brothers Marc and Todd Hunter. Todd will perform in the upcoming concert, which will also feature Kiwi music legend Mark Williams, as well as Bruce Reid (slide guitar) and Pete Drummond (drums).
Tourism Australia Regional Manager, Vito Anzelmi, said he is very excited about Dragon being part of G'Day NZ Australia Week, as they are a quintessential rock favourite in both Australia and New Zealand.
"Many Kiwis and Aussies have grown up singing along to Dragon songs. The band is incredibly popular on both sides of the Tasman and it is the first time the group have performed in New Zealand in over a decade, so it is an opportunity not to be missed," he said.
"Dragon fans attending the event will also be treated to an extravaganza of Australian food and wine al-fresco style. Lindemans and Crown Lager will also be showcasing their wines and beers on the day, so it's really good value for money."
"We are really looking forward to playing at the Lindemans Longest Lunch - it's been a wee while since we've played in New Zealand so we'll be pulling out all the stops for a great show," said Todd Hunter.
Dragon will be performing some of their seventies and eighties classics, as well as songs from their album Sunshine to Rain, released in June 2006. Dragon has sold over 2 million albums since 1973.
The award-winning Aboriginal dance troupe, Descendance,
will also add to the entertainment on the day.
