guides kids through a world of laughs and language with the

children’s show, all in reo Maori.

Each day features one
team’s performance at Te Matatini National Kapa Haka
Festival in February. This week’s groups are Rongomai, Nga
Taonga Mai Tawhiti, Te Huinga Waka, Nga Tumanako and
Timatanga.

A
dancer tries to track down the Maori family of her granny
who ran off to Australia with a whaler decades earlier, and
two cousins hunt the descendants of their All Black
great-grandfather in this moving series about Maori tracing
their roots.
KETE ARONUI – Tuesday May 1 at 8.00

Founding members of dance troupe Black Grace, Taane
Mete and Tairoa Royal, talk about their friendship and what
modern dance means to them in this series celebrating
leading Maori artists.
CHILDREN OF THE CLOUD

An
ancient warrior tribe journeys across the deserts of the
Sahara in search of water wells, stopping to set up
mysterious caravan cities as they go. This atmospheric
documentary reveals the customs, folklore and culture of
these nomadic people.

The grand old lady
of Maori sports, the Aotearoa Maori Tennis Association,
celebrates her 80th anniversary event – one of the oldest
family fixtures on the Maori sports calendar. Despite her
age, she’s still serving up some seriously good sporting
action.
TAUTOHETOHE – Wednesday May 2 at 9.30 PM
Two
teams of Maori language speakers go head-to-head in a new
series of the fast-moving debate show, in front of a tough
judging panel. Who has the wits and wiles to win this battle
of words? This week, it’s Te Whanau-a-Apanui versus
Taranaki.
HOMAI TE PAKIPAKI – Friday May 4 at 8.30

All-new interactive karaoke series live from Maori
Television’s Auckland studio. Viewers vote for who they
want to win the weekly prize of $1,000, plus the chance to
compete in the grand final for $10,000.

Live action from Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium

– are explained in a new series of this popular show which

of classic homegrown cinema is a romantic thriller set in
1940s New Zealand. A naval officer (Tony Goldwyn) falls for
