Luck of the Irish
Luck of the Irish
A player who purchased their Lotto Strike ticket at Whitcoulls Auckland International Airport has the luck of the Irish on their side after winning $1,289,365 in Lotto Strike tonight, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
Irish luck was also with three other Lotto players, who purchased their tickets in Waitakere, Waverly and Christchurch, who have each won $333,333 on Lotto First Division this St Patrick's Day evening.
The winning Lotto First Division tickets were purchased at West City Lotto in Waitakere, Waverly Motors in Waverly and at Christchurch Airport Bookshop.
"This week's winners have not so much been touched by Lady Luck, but by Irish luck. I hope our winners like Guinness because it will always be flowing by the bucket load on the anniversary of their win," says Mr McLeay.
"And with the winning Strike ticket and a winning Lotto First Division ticket purchased at two of our airports, our winners could come from anywhere in New Zealand this week," he added.
Lotto Powerball jackpotted tonight to an estimated $4 million in next week's draw.
Tonight's other big winner was Peter Kearney from Tauranga, who won $100,000 live on Lotto's Winning Wheel. Peter and his daughter Julie, along with his seven-year-old granddaughter Brianna, enjoyed a luxury weekend in Wellington staying at the Duxton Hotel, a shopping trip with a stylist for an outfit to wear on the show, and lunch with Lotto presenter Russell Harrison, leading up to his winning spin.
Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold by Pharmacy Plus Papakura in Auckland. The serial number is 563-61225986-20XX.
"Anyone who bought their ticket from any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any NZ Lotteries outlet," Mr McLeay says.
