Two New Director Appointments at the Edge®
THE EDGE® , Auckland’s Performing Arts and Convention Centre, has appointed two new directors.
Former Netball New Zealand chief executive Shelley McMeeken will take up the role of Director, Corporate Relations at the end of March, while Mohamed Mansour, previously Dynasty Hotel Group Director International and Incentive Sales, has accepted the role as Director, Conventions and Business Events Sales. Mohamed started at THE EDGE® in early March.
THE EDGE® Chief Executive Greg Innes says he is delighted to have filled both roles with such great people. “Both new appointments are an exciting addition to our team. THE EDGE® is a terrific place to work, and we have culture that places a great deal of emphasis on the right service and delivery ethic,” Innes says. “It’s deeply encouraging that people with the leadership abilities that Mohamed and Shelley undoubtedly possess want to work with us to take THE EDGE® on the next leg of our journey.”
Ms McMeeken, who has an extensive background in marketing, will be leading the communications, marketing and sponsorship functions at THE EDGE® and is excited about the challenges ahead. Her central responsibility is to lead the strategic positioning of the business to the diverse interest groups that share a stake in THE EDGE® future developments.
“Netball has been such a huge part of my life over the last seven years and will continue to be in many respects but I am keen to explore other options. I’m excited about taking on the new role with THE EDGE®. It is great to have the opportunity to work for another dynamic organisation.”
Mr Mansour will head THE EDGE® conventions and business events sales areas of THE EDGE® and brings an extensive background in the conventions and hotel industry including nine years with the Dynasty Hotel Group, the operator of the Heritage Hotel group in New Zealand, and four years at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre.
“I’ve already had a lot of exposure to THE EDGE®, working alongside their staff when we have jointly undertaken bids for major pieces of international convention business” Mansour says, “so I know what an opportunity this is. I’m really looking forward to the challenge”.
The two new appointments bring THE EDGE® directors to a total of five under Innes.
