Lois Muir Elected Netball New Zealand President

Lois Muir OBE, DCNZM was elected President of Netball New Zealand for a two-year term at the NNZ AGM yesterday.

International player and renowned coach, Muir is an icon in the Netball community and beyond.

Netball New Zealand Board Chair Don Mackinnon says that the election of Muir recognises her tremendous contribution to the sport, and the high esteem in which she is held.

“Lois has been involved with Netball as a player, coach and administrator at the highest level, and we are delighted that she was elected to the role of President of Netball New Zealand,” Mackinnon said.

Muir stood unopposed for the position, replacing Fay Freeman ONZM who has completed two terms as President.

Netball New Zealand Service Awards (an award to recognize those volunteers who have significantly contributed to netball over a number of years) were granted to Anne Lorraine Bloomfield (Western Netball), Tina Karaitiana (Gisborne Netball Centre), Te Aroha Keenan (Netball Auckland Waitakere), Violet Lynch (Netball Eastern Centre/Netball Southland), Margaret Nicholson (Netball Waikato), Susanne Irving Trim (Netball Manawatu Centre).

NNZ Board Member Karen Brown was re-elected for another three-year term to the NNZ Board.
