Earn a Scout badge – with a mudslide!
21 February 2007
Now is your chance to earn a Scout badge, even if you are not a Scout.
On Saturday 24 February, Scouting New Zealand is holding its first National Mudslide Day, not just for its own members, but for anyone who wants to have some muddy fun, adults included.
And for a small fee you can also get your very first Scout badge.
Scouting NZ is issuing an open invitation to parents and young people, challenging them to hurl themselves down a muddy slope at any one of the mudslides being organised at locations throughout New Zealandthis Saturday.
“We
are inviting everyone to join us in a mudslide, get a badge
and have a lot of fun in the process,” says Scouting NZ
CEO Geoff Knighton.
“When young people share a fun,
safe and challenging ‘first experience’ they also learn
important values of leadership, teamwork, accomplishment and
self-esteem.”
A number of mudslides have been organised throughout the country and will be co-ordinated by Scouting New Zealand in cooperation with local volunteers and with support from local businesses.
