Additional Performance Announced
The Festival of Colour today announced an additional performance of award-winning comedy, “The Tutor”, following a sell-out on day one of public ticket sales.
The play, nominated for four Chapman Tripp Awards and winner of Best New New Zealand Play, portrays three men, a right-wing father, the egotistical son and the left-wing tutor, on the collision course of life. Funny and topical, it takes digs at all sides and is testament to writer Dave Armstrong’s keenly observant sense of humour.
Festival director, Philip Tremewan, said initial ticket sales to the Festival were going well.
“People were actually queuing out the door in Wanaka on Monday morning when public sales opened,” he said. “And the queue remained there for most of the morning! Some shows only have a handful of tickets left while others, such as HATCH, have sold out at the Wanaka performances but still have availability through the touring programme in Arrowtown, Luggate and Hawea.”
The Tutor’s extra performance, sponsored by Contact Energy, will take place at 10pm on Saturday April 28 in the Lake Wanaka Centre. Tickets are $28 (plus booking fee) and are available through TicketDirect outlets nationwide or through the Festival web site at www.festivalofcolour.co.nz.
The Festival of Colour runs from April 24 to 29 featuring six days and nights of art, drama, music, comedy and dance from national and international artists and performers, set against the autumnal backdrop of Lake Wanaka. For further information, visit www.festivalofcolour.co.nz.
