Hand Crafted Masterpieces – The Ashton Grove Story
Bored with being a builder, Robert Hood recognized that there were opportunities in the traditional furniture making
craft, by producing furniture in time honoured styles on a boutique scale.
Robert assembled a team of ten master tradesman and established contact with suppliers of sustainable grown quality
furniture timbers. Fifteen years on and with 4 successful showrooms in New Zealand and Australia, the latest edition is
Wellington.
“We are having a very good response to the introduction of our Ashton Grove furniture range from Wellington buyers,”
says Robert. “There’s recognition in the market that the traditional styles of furniture are enduring and suit today’s
modern architecture and apartment living as much as the large family home. Our specialty is reproducing timeless French
Provincial, Spanish and Welsh pieces.”
At Ashton Grove, you are part of the creation right from the start. “We have a range of pieces in our showrooms to buy
from, or you can commission a piece to your specifications. We work with the client from the design right through to the
delivery stage and in some cases even visit client homes to discuss requirements to aid in creating their masterpiece.”

shellacs, oils and waxes.”
From their selection of French Oak, New Zealand Elm, Walnut, and American Cherry, their furniture cannot be faulted.
Ashton Grove has a large client base in New Zealand and Australia and they have even sent their furniture to clients in
Hong Kong, England, America, and Germany.

showroom at 253 Wakefield Street, Te Aro Wellington.
