Yamaha Young Guns Set Sights on Paeroa
Fresh from their four-week break from the SsangYong New Zealand Superbike Road Race Championship, Wanganui based Bernard Racing Yamaha is setting off for round two of the "Battle of the Streets" at Paeroa this weekend February 17/18.
The Team will be short of one of its Australian "Young Guns", as Scott Charlton has had to remain in Australia to fulfill his Australian commitments. Teammate Chris Seaton will be joined at Paeroa by Dominic Jones from Christchurch. Jones will be riding Charlton Yamaha R6 for the event.
Jones recently tested Charlton’s YZFR6 at Manfeild, and team owner Brian Bernard was extremely impressed.
" He just got on the machine and went very quick straight away," Bernard said from his Wanganui base.
The 21-year-old campaigned a Suzuki as a privateer in the USA last season and will be returning to the AMA Superbike series later in the month.
"I’ve never raced a street circuit before so that should be interesting. I really want to do well be Brian at the weekend," said Jones after testing.
Teammate for the weekend Chris Seaton is really looking forward to returning to Paeroa. Seaton leads the Formula Two class and is second in Formula One after a very successful round one at Wanganui on Boxing Day.
"Chris is in a good position to take class wins on either or both his R6 or R1 Yamahas," commented Bernard.
