$8 Million Up For Grabs With Lotto Powerball
A lucky player could win up to $8 million on Lotto Powerball this weekend as the summer prize pool heats up, NZ Lotteries Chief Executive Todd McLeay says.
With Powerball worth an estimated $7 million, and Lotto First Division worth an estimated $1 million, a lucky player could potentially pick up a Lotto Powerball prize worth $8 million, a win that would rank twelfth in the list of top individual wins on Lotto Powerball.
Powerball had a great year in 2006. In total, 10 people won Lotto Powerball taking home prizes ranging from $1.25 million to $18 million. A ticket sold in Kaeo, Northland in May 2006, made its owners the biggest single winners of any NZ Lotteries game after they took home $18 million.
Other winners included an Auckland family in February who took home $4.6 million, a South Auckland family in August, who took home just shy of $10 million, and a Nelson man who won $6.9 million in October.
"This week's monster jackpot is the first of 2007 and, if struck, would be a fabulous start to the year for the lucky winner," says Mr McLeay.
"Powerball can be an unpredictable game, but the one thing I can predict is a life-changing experience for anyone who matches their numbers correctly on Saturday night," adds Mr McLeay.
