AA Gives Away $5000 Of Petrol

Media Release: 31 January 2007

AA Gives Away $5000 Of Petrol

The AA has announced Greymouth’s John Fensom and Gisborne’s Sandy McGregor as the two winners of $2500 worth of BP petrol vouchers.

John and Sandy won their petrol prizes for visiting the AA’s 101 Must-Do’s For Kiwis website and voting for their favourite holiday experiences.

Peter Blackwell, AA Tourism General Manager says “we are delighted that John and Sandy participated in our domestic tourism campaign which aims to increase the number of New Zealanders enjoying Kiwi holidays. They have both won a fantastic prize – it should give them enough petrol to undertake several holiday trips during 2007!”

John, who has been an AA Member for 45 years, was just about to enjoy a North Island holiday when the AA advised him of his win, while Sandy was enjoying a holiday in the Bay of Islands, using information she found on the 101 Must-Do’s For Kiwis website, when the AA advised her of her win.

“I have been involved in the tourism industry for many years and voted for the local experiences, such as Punakaiki and the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers. They are some of the best experiences in New Zealand. The 101 Must-Do’s For Kiwis campaign is a great idea and I am looking forward to seeing the results of the voting,” says John.

“I love travelling around New Zealand and when I heard about the 101 Must-Do’s campaign I went straight onto the website and discovered so many other places I needed to visit. The website is fantastic - it has so much information on what to see and do, in fact my latest holiday was based on the ratings,” says Sandy.

101 Must-Do’s For Kiwis aims to put New Zealand back into the holiday plans of New Zealanders, and help increase the number of Kiwis holidaying at home. It is the largest domestic tourism initiative ever undertaken in New Zealand. In addition to print, radio and television advertising, the $2 million campaign encourages New Zealanders to vote online for their favourite 101 Must-Do’s and share their own holiday experiences.

New Zealanders are encouraged to visit the website www.aatravel.co.nz, register their details and vote for their favourite 101 Must-Do holiday experiences. Prizes are being given away until voting finishes this Sunday, 4 February.

Visitors to the website can also locate each of the 101 Must-Do’s using an interactive map, blog their experiences and upload their favourite holiday photos. The website also features the latest top ten Must-Do’s as voted by Kiwis.
