An overnight stay for 4 people at Althorp House, England, the family home of the late Princess Diana and golf with Michael Campbell and Ian Botham shape as 2 of the key auction items that will be on offer at the Toll NZ /Chris Cairns Foundation gala dinner to be held in Auckland on February 17.

Earl Spencer, the late Princess’s brother is the guest speaker at the gala dinner and Chris Cairns says he is extremely appreciative of this amazingly generous offer by the Earl.

The Earl will host the guests for dinner and then be put up in the estates magnificent bedrooms overnight. Chris Cairns and former All Black greats Justin Marshall and Andrew Merhtens will join them for the evening. Return flights to England will be included in the prize.

A round of golf with US Open Champion Michael Campbell, and cricketing legend Ian Botham at the world famous Wentworth Golf Club in England allows any golf enthusiast to share an up close and personal experience with one of the best golfers in the world. Couple that with Ian Botham who is one of the most enigmatic cricketers to have ever played the game and it will be a day that’s priceless.

In putting together the auction Chris Cairns says he wanted to put up unique items that normally money could not buy and he is hoping that people on the night spend generously as all money raised goes towards improved rail safety and awareness in New Zealand.

Also in the auction will be a set of $50 000 diamond earrings that will go to the highest bidder on the evening to compliment what is going to be an exceptional auction.

In conjunction with Toll NZ, Chris Cairns has launched the Chris Cairns Foundation in memory of his sister Louise who died in a level crossing rail accident in 1993.

The MC for the gala dinner is ex Australian cricket captain and world renowned commentator Richie Benaud.
