New Website Address For Festival

Porirua’s popular Waitangi Day Festival of the Elements has a new website address.

Festival Coordinator Margaret Armour said the Festival website, introduced last year, was a very successful source of information for the public on the Festival programme, artists, times and location.

“We have changed servers this year, so the website address has changed slightly,” Ms Armour said.

The Festival website can now be found at www.elementsfestival.org,nz

Last year the Festival was attended by more than thirty thousand people, making it the biggest Waitangi Day festival in New Zealand.

“We have again attracted more than one thousand exciting performers and artists this year, headlined by the renown Wellington violinist Elena,” Ms Armour said.

“Elena is classically trained at Schola Musica in Wellington and at Trinity College in London, and. But don’t expect a traditional classical performance,” Ms Armour said.

“She is a sensational artist known internationally for her vibrancy, energy and excellence. Elena gives what you can only describe as breathtaking performances. Her music encompasses the classics, jazz, gypsy, Irish, and electric,” Ms Amour said.

Elena also combines Kapa Haka and classical music.

“ Elena crosses cultural and ethnic boundaries, making her the ideal lead artist for a Festival that celebrates the cultural diversity made possible by the Treaty of Waitangi.”
