Artstation offers introduction to visual arts
Bookings are open for a new and unique year-long introduction course to visual arts being held at Artstation in 2007.
360°: An Introduction to Visual Arts offers students the opportunity to study under the guidance of seven artists’, all
of whom are experienced teachers and practicing professionals in their field.
Students are given the opportunity to explore and expand their visual creativity through a broad programme combining
practical skills with enhanced theoretical knowledge.
The aim of 360° is to help creativity flourish through a diverse programme which moves between two and three dimensions.
Working from a core course of painting and drawing, students will be able to establish a direction and go on to work
across the five other disciplines (photography, three dimensions, printmaking, silkscreen and theory of art, history and
culture) helping them to clarify directions for further study and specialisation. The small class size allows for ample
individual tuition and feedback.
360° is an ideal course for those students wanting to produce a portfolio for later application to art school degree
courses or for anyone interesting in exploring and developing a range of art making approaches.
The year’s study will culminate in a professionally curated exhibition of selected student’s work.
360° tutors are: Matthew Browne and John Nicol - Drawing & Painting; Bronwynne Cornish - 3 Dimensions, Julie Downie – Photography; Elizabeth Serjeant – Printmaking; Claire van
der Plas – Silkscreen; and Trish Scott - Theory of Art, History and Culture.

Artstation, Auckland City’s community visual arts facility, is located at the old police barracks at 1 Ponsonby Rd,
Newton. It is easy to get to by public transport with the Link’s ‘Artstation’ bus stop right outside.
