Maori Television Repeats Veteran Military Pageant
Maori Television will re-screen its exclusive coverage of the spectacular one-night only event – YEAR OF THE VETERAN MILITARY PAGEANT – on Sunday November 26 from 12.00 PM to 2.00 PM.
Featuring a cast of more than 800, the pageant at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium on November 3 was the premier event marking the Year of the Veteran as well as the 90th anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association (RNZRSA) and featured tributes to the service and sacrifice of veterans from the Boer War to the present day.
Directed by Brian Inns – who masterminded the highly successful Taranaki Searchlight Tattoo in New Plymouth – the pageant included a salute to the RNZRSA, military bands, massed pipes and drums, a simulated battle, the 1812 Overture, plus vocalists such as Maori diva Hinewehi Mohi with choir and award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Terry Kelly.
The Army Band, Central Band of the RNZAF, RNZN Band and a Tri-Service Band performed along with the Auckland Police Highland Pipe Band and there were displays by the New Zealand Police dogs unit and their handlers and the Lochiel Drill Team.
Revisit a night of military pride and music with the YEAR OF THE VETERAN MILITARY PAGEANT screening for a second time exclusively on Maori Television on Sunday November 26 from 12.00 PM to 2.00 PM.
