The gates opened on the Ellerslie International Flower Show today. Pictured - the Sentinel Heritage Garden, which won silver at the show (sponsored by Sentinel, the home equity release company).
Men and women who served New Zealand in the armed forces are being celebrated in this garden.
Previous gold medal-winning designer Sandra Arnet created a garden celebrating returned services, in honour of the Year of the Veteran. The garden showcases scented and colourful blooms that visitors love.
Hundreds of brilliant scarlet soldier poppies, antique roses in creamy whites and scarlets and fragrant blooms like lavenders are featuring. The Victorian gazebo is being auctioned on Trademe with all proceeds going to the RSA Welfare Fund.
