Up The Garden Path To Fame
Over 95 million people have
now seen coverage of the Tourism New Zealand garden at
Chelsea in May, and media interest is continuing.
As the garden is about to be revealed to New Zealanders at the Ellerslie Flower Show, international coverage of the garden is still appearing in the world’s media.
Two gardening gurus are currently in New Zealand filming for a new BBC series Around the World in 80 Gardens and gardening celebrity Diarmuid Gavin is making an episode of Irish travel programme No Frontiers. This November New Zealand is also the focus of the UK Royal Horticultural Society magazine (circulation 400,000) and features are running in Eden, a major German gardening magazine and in the UK’s Garden’s Illustrated.
“The continuing coverage is proof of the tremendous benefits for New Zealand of all the effort we all went to to get the garden to Chelsea,” says George Hickton, Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive. “We are pleased that the garden will be recreated at Ellerslie, so that New Zealanders can see what all the fuss is about!”
New Zealanders will get a chance to see the Silver-Gilt winning 100% Pure New Zealand garden at the upcoming Ellerslie Flower Show.
At the Ellerslie show, visitors will also be able to see how New Zealand is marketed in another corner of the world, with the appearance of a ‘100% Pure New Zealand’ campervan, straight from the streets of Tokyo.
The Maui campervan, covered in 100% Pure New Zealand imagery, was used in a nationwide Tourism New Zealand/JTB (Japanese Travel Bureau) roadshow in Japan in September, travelling around the country to assist in training JTB staff.
The Maui van will be used at the Ellerslie Flower Show on November 16th as a central point for staff and judges.
