Search Still On For New Zealand’s Top Minters
Auckland, 9 November 2006 – Time is running out for New Zealand’s car lovers to enter into the online “My Minter” competition, to find New Zealand’s most pristine machine. Entries will close on 17 November.
To date, 69 Minters have been entered into the competition to find our Mintest Ride, and entries continue to flow in from around the country.
So far, the country’s number one ride is RP59’s big, black, beautiful 1959 Cadillac, leading the pack with 43 votes. And, in second place is Alvena’s 1966 Chevrolet SS Impala, with 41 votes. Alvena’s Chev is also the favourite Her Minter.
There’s also strong competition for the top car club, with Southland’s Chevrolet Club and the American Classic Car Club fighting it out for first place.
My Minter is a web-based competition open to registered owners of the country’s most immaculate cars to win top cash prizes. Entrants can register their ride in one of four categories at www.myminter.co.nz and the public can vote for what they think is New Zealand’s best minter.
The current category leaders are:
The Classic Minter – RP59’s Cadillac, a 1959 Cadillac series 62 coupe, with 43 votes.
The Contemporary Minter – Joinerman’s 1966 convertible Chevrolet Impala 350, with 20 votes.
The Modified Minter – Dodgie’s 1965 Dodge polar station wagon, with 29 votes.
Her Minter – Alvena’s 1966 Chevrolet SS Impala, with 41 votes.
Top Car Club – Southland Chevrolet Club, with 10 entries.
Category winners and the overall winner will each receive $2500 to spend on Caltex with Techron® fuel or other purchases at Caltex service stations and Star Mart convenience stores. The winning car club will receive $5000 cash to host a club function.
People can register their cars at www.myminter.co.nz now. Entry is open to photos of unadorned minters only – any with people in will not be eligible. Voting opens runs through until 1st December. All winners will be advised by 11 December 2006.
