World Rally Extravaganza
In just three weeks, the world’s best rally drivers and teams will take New Zealand by storm and battle it out in the World Rally Championship.
Mystery Creek Events Centre is hosting the event from 16-19 November 2006 including two special stages on site, the Rally NZ headquarters, service park and a complete Mardi Gras entertainment package.
The World Rally Extravaganga is so much more than just motor sport, and caters for all groups of family, friends and corporates according to event organisers,
“Tons of entertainment has been confirmed for the World Rally extravaganza at Mystery Creek Events Centre. Street entertainers, fire jugglers, extreme stage performers, the ultimate children’s show, Mardi Gras dancers and cultural drummers will set an exciting Mardi Gras atmosphere,” Marketing Manager Nicola Greenwell said.
Also at the event will be V8 simulators, Mahons carnival rides, Go Vertical Bungee and the BP Ultimate mobile truck which shows off a Holden Monaro with spitfire engine and two GT cars on dynos with speeds up to 210km/ph.
“There really is something for everyone including a great range of bands - Late 80s Mercedes band, jazz band Zebra, Mercury Rising ‘The Ultimate Freddy Mercury Stage Show’, and The Chris Baillie Band,” Mrs Greenwell said.
The prestigious inaugural Miss Rally NZ competition will take place during the event, as well as the Tyre Fire Burnout competition, a pyrotechnic display, and a great range of food and beverage including restaurant and bar facilities.
Unique corporate hosting opportunities are available for the event. The Tyre Fire Burnout Competition seeks to find the best from General Motors, Ford and Japanese vehicles. There is $2,500 worth of prizes up for grabs with 1st place taking away $1,000 cash and a trophy. Entries close 30 October, 2006.
Miss Rally NZ is the search to find New Zealand’s hottest car-loving babe! The winner of the competition will join the 2006 Propecia Rally NZ girls at the ceremonial finish line and will become one of the official girls in the 2007 Rally NZ promo team.
Eight finalists will be selected through an application process. Eligible contestants will be aged between 18-30 years. Desirable contestants will have a keen interest in both Motor Sport and modeling/promotional work and reflect the professionalism and high status of the event.
