The Te Puke Princess leaves Idol

In tonight’s live NZ IDOL results show (at 8pm on TV2), contestant Aroha Robinson (18 years from Mt Maunganui) was eliminated leaving the top two Idols to battle it out for the title of New Zealand Idol.

After last night’s love special, Aroha was placed in the bottom two, along with Indira Moala (21 years from Auckland).

In last night’s love special Aroha sang Lets Stay Together by Al Green and Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross. In the New Zealand Music Special she sang Watchin' U by Ardijah and Lifeline by Brooke Fraser. Previously she has sung That Don’t Impress Me Much by Shania Twain, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, Circle of Life by Elton John, From This Moment by Shania Twain, Purple Rain by Prince, River Deep Mountain High by Tina Turner and at the regional piano round in Wellington she sang I’ll Be There by Maria Carey.

Aroha wants to thank everyone throughout New Zealand for their overwhelming support.

“I have made so many awesome friends from Idol. I will walk away with some amazing memories that I will never forget,” she says.

The Top 2 contestants are: Indira Moala from Auckland and Matt Saunoa from Levin.

Don’t miss the Top 2 in depth special on Sunday at 7.30pm on TV2. Then be watching the live head-to-head concert on Labour Day at 7.30pm and the Grand Final on Sunday 29th October from 7.30pm on TV2.
