Idol’s early favourite leaves the show
In tonight’s live NZ IDOL results show (at 8pm on TV2), Centrebet’s early favourite, Clinton Randell (21 years from Mt Roskill in Auckland) was the third person to be eliminated from the NZ IDOL Top 10.
From the early stages of the NZ IDOL competition, Clinton was dubbed a potential contender with some betting he would make it through to the NZ IDOL Grand Final. But last night the voting public thought otherwise.
Clinton’s song in this week’s Country special was I’ll Be by Edwin McCain. Previously he has sung Knocking On Heavens Door by Guns ‘n Roses in the Rock special, Superstition by Stevie Wonder in the Soul special and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John at the regional piano round in Christchurch.
Clinton wanted to thank all his family and friends for voting for him.
“I had hoped that everyone had dug my country vibe but you haven’t seen the last of me. If Dom stuffs up then I’ll have his job!” he said.
The remaining NZ Top 10 contestants are: Aroha Robinson from Mt Maunganui, Becks Wright from Auckland, Ben Hazelwood from Wellington, Indira Moala from Auckland, Kali Kopae from Christchurch, Matt Saunoa from Levin and Toni Baird from Wellington.
Next week’s NZ IDOL theme is music by Elton John. Don’t miss the next instalment of NZ IDOL on Sunday at 7.30pm on TV2.
