LOOP NEWS – 5 September 2006

LOOP NEWS – 5 September 2006

Twinset are set this weekend to set up their band gear and set the set of their new set performance alight! Are you set? Samuel Flynn Scott came home safely from his tour is now cuddled up with his dog (that makes noises like King Kong when he sleeps) beside the fire. Summer is coming and LOOP wants your designs on a LOOP T shirt...shoot out for it...we dare ya!

LOOP has found the back door to iTunes and is letting all the drafty independent labels and music in. Paul McLaney's new album is hitting stores NEXT WEEK, Tuesday to be exact! Have you found 'Edin'?

LOOP has formed an industrial engineering firm 'LOOPengineering' and the photo below was taken of the LOOPcrew at Leigh Sawmill Engineers Conference demonstrating the latest concepts in stadium construction being used for the next Soccor World Cup.

Direct Deal With Apple iTunes

Digital distribution of NZ music through iTunes has, until now, been limited to a few artists mostly signed to major labels but a recent deal between Wellington company LOOP Media Ltd and Apple iTunes Music Store has allowed this popular method of international music distribution to become available to all New Zealand bands.

The deal allows LOOPdigital a division of LOOP Recordings Aot(ear)oa to place New Zealand music directly into the iTunes Music Store territories eliminating the need for independent artists and labels to deal with international distribution companies.

LOOPdigital will act as a local independent iTunes aggregator and will provide service to other New Zealand independent labels or artists by getting their albums quickly into iTunes territories. LOOPdigital will collect and distribute associated royalties back to the artists.

If you are an independent label, artist or even unsigned and would like your music on iTunes then please contact LOOP digital (digital @ loop.co.nz) via email for more information.

'Edin' Out Next Week

Watch out Paul McLaney's solo album 'Edin' to be released on Loop Recordings in September. After successful albums with Gramsci and collaborations with the likes of SJD, Concord Dawn, Module and recently The Blush Response, 31 year old Paul McLaney now leaves the band environment and goes solo.

Easy!
The winning design will be printed on a limited run of LOOP t-shirts, for promotion and to be sold in shops and online.
