Get Online For This Weekend’s Triathlon World Championships
New Zealanders will be able to view online live race action as it unfolds this weekend when a 100-strong Kiwi contingent competes at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Triathlon New Zealand Chief Executive Officer, Dave Beeche, said that as well as the 12 athletes competing in the men’s and women’s elite races, 118 other New Zealanders will also compete across 12 different age group categories in Lausanne.
“Our youngest competitor is Reilly Gee at 18 years of age, while our oldest is 70 year old Neil Fleming,” Dave said.
“With the largest New Zealand team since the world championships held in Queenstown in 2003, we’re confident of some great results in both the age group and elite races.”
The men’s elite team comprises Terrenzo Bozzone, Hamish Carter, Bevan Docherty, Clark Ellice, Kris Gemmell and Shane Reed, with Sam Walker as a non-travelling reserve.
Competing in the elite women’s race are Carmel Hanly, Andrea Hewitt, Taryn McLeod, Debbie Tanner, Samantha Warriner and Evelyn Williamson. Jenny Cooper is a non-travelling reserve.
“This is a great opportunity for New Zealanders to get behind the athletes and watch them compete in real time via the internet.”
