Crowds to accept invitation to “Deliverance"
Crowds expected to accept invitation to “Deliverance" at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre
People of all ages and ethnicities are expected to converge on the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre tomorrow for the start of the 2006 "Deliverance at Hand!" District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.
For the past three weeks, witnesses in Auckland and Manukau have been working hard to offer personal invitations for the convention to everyone in the area in five local languages.
The program will emphasize that the world needs deliverance from the widespread problems that affect humankind. Talks and symposiums will emphasize comforting Bible scriptures and show why the Witnesses believe that current events fulfill Bible prophecies –and that God's day of reckoning is fast approaching.
Each day's program will be based on a Bible passage that emphasizes reliance on God and the convention promises to stress compelling Scriptural reasons for taking decisive action now.
A multicultural baptism ceremony will be held on Saturday, and the Witnesses expect results similar to the 12 cultures that were represented last year. There will also be a Bible-based drama presentation on Sunday that will show how godly obedience is required in order to gain deliverance.
The public discourse "Deliverance by God's Kingdom Is at Hand!" will be presented on Sunday afternoon. The speaker will discuss why there is a greater need for deliverance now than ever before and how God will provide salvation by means of the Kingdom many people pray for in the famous Lord’s Prayer, recorded at Matthew 6:9-13.
The session begins each day at 9:30 am for each of the three days of the convention. In addition to English, the program will also be presented in the Mandarin and Korean languages via local FM transmission. Admission is free and no collections are taken.
