Let’s Rock

Let’s Rock

The first New Zealand finals of Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS) are to be held this Sunday in Auckland.

The competition, which has been a world-wide phenomenon for five years, was introduced to New Zealand this year.

Nine regional competitions took place from Auckland to Dunedin during June and July. Each regional winner has already been gifted a year’s worth of free broadband by ihug.

The regional winners will compete on Sunday for the ultimate prestige of being the official New Zealand RPS champion. The winner will travel to Canada to take part in the World Championships in November.

“The finals are sure to be a classic nail biter,” says Darryl Burn, marketing manager at ihug.

“Each finalist has developed his or her own cult following and personal style.

“We’ve got Melissa from South Auckland, who describes her style as ‘fast and controlled’.

Our Christchurch champ, Matt Savidan (or ‘Fist of Surprise'), is a ‘spur-of-the-moment’ kind of player.

“Then we have our Nelson champ, Scott Trusler, who describes himself as ‘rough as guts’”, says Darryl.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, there’s one last chance to try your hand at becoming the New Zealand RPS champ. Just get yourself along to The Bog Irish Bar in Manukau this Sunday from 2pm.

Ihug are proud to sponsor the 2006 New Zealand RPS championships.
