Basketball’s Big Game - Live On Maori TV!

Basketball’s Big Game - Live On Maori TV!

Maori Television is proud to announce the exclusively live screening of the final match in the Al Ramsay Shield four-game basketball series - NEW ZEALAND TALL BLACKS VERSUS AUSTRALIA POST BOOMERS - on Wednesday July 19 at 9.30 PM.

Presented live from Melbourne by Julian Wilcox for Maori Television, this game is the big decider for the two top-level teams.

Maori Television chief executive Jim Mather says the decision to show the game was driven by the level of public interest in the series.

“Maori Television has been offered an opportunity to screen the final game live. As a public broadcaster and given the level of public interest that this series has generated, we’re only too pleased to televise the series decider live and free-to-air.”

Andrew Alleway, Marketing Manager of Basketball NZ, said Maori Television’s decision to screen the game was great for New Zealand sports fans who could now watch the decider live and as it happens.

He said Basketball New Zealand had expressed its appreciation to Maori Television.

The first battle in the series was held in Napier and saw the Tall Blacks lose by only two points. But in the second match at the venue, the Tall Blacks scored a record win in their career, beating the Australians by a massive 19 points.

Over the ditch in Tasmania for the third game earlier this week, the Boomers won by just one point.

The fourth game is crucial to the Tall Blacks, leading to either a loss or a draw in a series that is part of the run-up to the world championships later this year.
