Fouhy Focused on Next Test

Ben Fouhy, Olympic Silver medalist and New Zealand Kayak champion, is hoping to maintain his recent good form at a German World Cup Regatta this weekend.

A fortnight ago Fouhy achieved World Cup success in Poland when he narrowly beat a field that included fellow Olympians Adam Van Koeverden of Canada and Eric Veras Larsen of Norway to post the world's fastest time in the K1 1000 event.

The New Zealand National K1 1000 title holder also achieved fourth place in the K1 500 event, only 0.9 of a second behind race winner, and defending Olympic champion, Adam Van Koeverden.

"I am pleased with my form so far this season", says Fouhy. "I am really focused on the German event this weekend and I am keen to keep up the momentum I have established."

"I was stoked with my time in Poland, and to have the opportunity to compete in Europe against a world class field."

"However, my end goal is still the World Championships later this year, and beyond that, the Olympic Games in 2008."

Fouhy has relocated to the Northern Hemisphere over the New Zealand winter, in order to have the best preparation possible for the World Championships being held in Hungary in August.

The New Zealander is proud to be representing the country overseas and helping to improve the profile of kayaking back home.

The German Regatta is being held on May 27 ? 28.
