Ben Fouhy Off to Northern Hemisphere to Gear Up for Mid Year Regattas
Ben Fouhy, Olympic Silver medalist and New Zealand kayak champion, is heading off to the UK to train at the Royal Canoe Club in London.
Training on the Thames River will be a change for Fouhy who has spent the New Zealand summer, and several thousand kilometres, training on Auckland's Lake Pupuke.
After a successful summer of training, and winning the New Zealand National K1000 title, Ben is looking forward to making the most of the Northern Hemisphere summer weather, and training with paddlers that will assist him perfect his technique.
"I've had a great few months in New Zealand training, and of course winning the national title earlier this month," says Fouhy. "Moving to the UK is the next step in my build up to the World Championships in Hungary in August.
"May's going to be a busy month for me as I'll be competing in several events. On the 13th and 14th of May I'll be in Poland, and on the 27th and 28th of May I'll be in Germany competing in the K1000 and K500 events."
Fouhy will also be competing in both the K500 and K1000 at a lead in regatta in Nottingham on the 6 May.
Fouhy departs New Zealand on Wednesday 26 April for the UK.
