Best Selling Writers Share A Sense Of Place
Wellington readers have the opportunity to venture across time as well as continents, during the New Zealand Book Council's next Meet the Author series, A Sense of Place.
Four international best selling writers are visiting the city in May. Popular philosopher Alain de Botton will be looking at buildings and houses as he reflects on The Architecture of Happiness, while fans of Under the Tuscan Sun can accompany Frances Mayes into foreign lands during the introduction of her latest book, A Year in the World.
Audrey Niffenegger will be crossing chronological boundaries as she talks about The Time Traveler's Wife, while award-winning British writer, Hari Kunzru, jumps between Silicon Valley and Bollywood as he follows the characters of his novel, Transmission.
Book Council Chief Executive, Karen Ross, says May's literary line-up continues the Council's aim of exposing Kiwi audiences to writers they've long admired, as well as others they have yet to discover.
'Every book is a portal into other worlds. A Sense of Place offers Wellington readers the chance to explore spaces with four very different writers.'
