Frontseat, this Sunday 12th March, 10.40pm on TV One
News: Enjoy your Frontseat while you can get it – after this Sunday, we’re off-air while the Commonwealth Games are on. Also, Frontseat’s Search for the Greatest New Zealand Painting continues! The short-list will be announced when we’re back on Sunday 2nd April. Be sure to nominate and vote for your favourite via our website: www.frontseat.co.nz. Giveaways: We’ve got one more double pass to Wagner’s “Parsifal” to giveaway this Sunday AND a premium double pass to Douglas Wright’s “Black Milk” in the town closest to the winner (the tour starts on 25th March in Invercargill), along with his new book “Terra Incognito”.
On This Week’s Show:
Musical Torture: Frontseat looks at classical music’s new role in crime prevention; the music that drives customers away, clasping their bleeding ears and, at the more sinister end, the music that’s being used quite literally as torture.
They’re Buying Our Wairua, There: We show you the art that rich North Americans are buying in their droves, and talk to a variety of Maori artists and administrators about whether this is the best stuff to represent us on foreigners’ mantelpieces.
Barnie: Oliver Driver interviews TV and film producer and head of South Pacific Pictures, John Barnett – the man known in the trade simply as ‘Barnie’. Barnett’s the producer of numerous TV shows, documentaries and feature films, one of the founders of OnFilm magazine and the white, Jewish creative force behind a new film starring the Naked Samoans, ‘Sione’s Wedding’.
Wagner’s Last Opera: As part of our ongoing coverage of the 2006 New Zealand International Arts Festival, we visit the leads in rehearsal for Wagner’s Parsifal – Sir Donald McIntyre, Simon O’Neill, Margaret Medlyn and Paul Whelan. Repeat! If you missed the Art of the 60s, sculptural vandalism and Ann Shelton episode last Sunday, you can see the repeat this Saturday morning 11th March at 8.00am on TV One.
Best regards,
The Frontseat Team TV One, Sunday Nights Repeat screening 8.00am the following Saturday
