What do a giant mouse, a large turnip and a safari have in common? Not much on the surface, but in improvised comedy show 'Micetro', improvisers will work together to magically weave such random suggestions from the audience into stories, songs and scenes. Richard Samaeli, co-ordinator of the Wellington Improvisation Troupe (WIT) says, "WIT players share a love of storytelling and work together as a team to inspire the audience. WIT theatre is sometimes serious, often hilarious and always totally unpredictable."

Fringe Festival 2006 sees WIT return to the Wellington stage for what promises to be a great season of Micetro (NZ Fringe Best Comedy Award 2003). Each improviser will vie against their competitors to tell the best stories and sing the best songs in pursuit of taking out the coveted title of Micetro. The audience watches each scene and then decides which players they want to see progress through to win each night.

WIT is Wellington’s not-for-profit, community-based improvisational theatre group and players have recently wowed Wellington crowds with sold-out performances in 'Love Possibly' ("no script, just guts, teamwork and imagination" - Capital Times), 'Gorilla Theatre' ("edge-of-your-seat comedy" - TV3 Nightline) and 'The All-New Old-Time Radio Show'. WIT performs and teaches the skills of improvisational theatre at community venues around the Wellington region.

So get in quick to check out Micetro this Fringe season, a show that young and old alike will enjoy!
