Psychedelic Vibes with Xtensa Live on the TMet Show

Live psy-dance act Xtensa are special guests on this week's TMet Show, Friday 24th February from 5 p.m. on Twisted Radio. Just tune in to Twisted Auckland 107.7fm, Hamilton 107.5 or listen online at www.twisted.co.nz

Get your Friday psy vibes from 5.00 p.m. with DJ Chelfyn followed around 6.00 p.m. by Xtensa's DJ & Live Didgeridoo combo in the TMet Studios. Cat (DJ) & Al (Didg) Xtensa have returned to Auckland after 8 years immersed in the UK's music and dance culture scene, frequenting nights as Return to the Source and Escape from Samsara.

It wasn't long before they started creating their own music with whatever resources were available at the time. In 2000 they gave a demo to Clockwork Prism (www.clockworkprism.com) and created psy-trance and eclectic vibes for the crew and others including Secret Squirrels, Antiworld, Technophobia & Castledancealot, and legendary club The Drome at London Bridge. While with the Clockwork Prism crew they helped promote quality parties at Arch 269 in Brixton and numerous 'secret location' outdoor parties.

Xtensa also made regular appearances at the stomping Antiworld (www.antiworld.net) parties, including the Brixton Academy, Alexandra Palace and SE1. Along with their gigs as Xtensa, Cat played bass in the rock band Adora Vox (www.adoravox.com ) and Al played didgeridoo and jew's harp in the techno-rock band Triplelicious 23 (www.t23.info ).

In 2006 Cat & Al Xtensa plan to start producing their own sounds, and have joined the crews at Twisted Radio www.twisted.co.nz & TMet Recordings www.tmet.net in their mission to help grow the NZ dance music scene.
