AGE PRYOR - NEW MUSIC VIDEO "LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND"

Age Pryor's beautiful song "Leave It All Behind" was remade especially for his brand new video, which can be seen on TV from this week on. The remake was set in a more upbeat feel to suit the addition of visuals. Age Pryor says: "It is more of a band piece compared to the original which is very personal and introspective.

There is also an underlying ambiguity within the song between depressing or uplifting, defeatist or optimistic. The song is about abandoning the pressures and responsibilities of modern living, about starting afresh, and about being able to stand up for one's own needs. It's a song I relate to personally and also one for which I have had a lot of feedback people seem to be able to relate to the sentiment."

The outstanding music video was co-directed by Nic Marrison, Jessica Cowley and Julian Bryant. The process for putting the video together comprised of a “pre-vis” in which the entire shot sequence was mapped out; a live shoot of Age Pryor performing the song against a white background; and then the creation of a CG city-scape in which the action takes place.

Keeping the modeling of the buildings simple allowed to depart from the idea of the streets being real. Instead the directors used the building surfaces as a screen for internal landscapes, layering images of street art from around Wellington, and personal drawing and writing from Age Pryor's journals.
