More Top Music Acts For Splore 06

Two more music acts have been confirmed for Splore 06 – US funk DJs Fort Knox Five and stunning New Zealand singer/songwriter Hollie Smith.

Fort Knox fuse live instrumentation with modern electronics to create a funk-driven sound and their production style has been called upon to remix incredible artists including the legendary Tito Puente, Louis Armstrong, Tower of Power, A Skillz and Krafty Kuts, Dynamo Productions,and Mo'Horizons, and recently collaborated with Afrika Bambaataa.

Hollie Smith has been turning heads on the New Zealand music scene with stand-out collaborations and performances with Trinity Roots, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Recloose. Hollie’s been writing songs since the age of 12, performing since she was 13 and toured the US as a 16-year-old. Now based in Wellington, she recently formed her own band to complement her writing and arrangement style and has released ‘E.P.’, the first official recording of her original music

Splore 06 – a three day multi-discipline arts and music festival – takes place from 17-19 February 2006 at Auckland’s Tapapakanga Regional Park and melds a strong music line-up together with visual arts, performance art, workshops and film screenings.

Fort Knox Five and Hollie Smith join a stunning line-up for Splore 06 which includes New York hip hopper Talib Kweli, Scottish performers The Cuban Brothers, UK funk/hip hop duo The Nextmen, UK DJ Spikey Tee and world number one VJ act Hexstatic.

New Zealand acts confirmed for Splore 06 include multi-award winning Wellington band Fat Freddy’s Drop, electronica duo Pitch Black, the multi-talented Sola Rosa, Kora, Module, Rhian Sheehan, Ladi6, Whirimako Black, Turnaround DJs and DJs Philippa and Nic D.

Splore is New Zealand’s only three-day live-in festival and as well as music, it also features performance – including theatre, dance, comedy and performance art – visual arts, sculpture trails, film screenings and workshops.

This is the sixth Splore festival and this year marks a change of venue to Tapapakanga Regional Park, located just one hour south-east of central Auckland, set on the Firth of Thames and nestled at the base of the Hunua Ranges.
