Money on a Tree – PRF’s Fundraising for CCF

The Money That Grew on a Tree – PRF’s Fundraising for Child Cancer

The spectacular Pacific Retail Finance (PRF) Money Tree, which took pride of place at the Ellerslie Flower Show earlier this month, has raised more than $16,000 for the Child Cancer Foundation.

PRF, one of New Zealand’s leading consumer financial services companies and a key sponsor of the 2005 Ellerslie Flower Show, commissioned the three-metre high ‘Money Tree’ especially for the show. The tree was officially launched at the start of the show by four-year-old Lexi Primrose, the face of this year’s Child Cancer Foundation Appeal.

Visitors to the show were then invited to make a cash donation for the Child Cancer Foundation, with the money attached to the tree so everyone could watch it grow. And, at the end of the five-day show, it had – to the tune of $16,151.

PRF spokesman Mike Frederickson says the Money Tree worked exceptionally well in generating money for a very worthy cause.

“The Money Tree became a destination in itself and a popular meeting point for visitors to the show. And while they were there, they were very generous with both their praise and their donations,” he says. “Of course, many show goers were also keen to know whether they could find this magic tree at their local nursery.”

Jim Barclay, CEO of the Child Cancer Foundation, says the charity is delighted with the funds raised. “This is an outstanding result and will really help us make a difference to the lives of children with cancer and their families,” he says.
