He was devastated to learn that his “To Hilda” may not be the real thing. So this week, Josie McNaught took our buyer, and his sketch, to various experts for their opinion. HOW TO LOOK AT A PAINTING
While hot shot curator Justin Paton was up from Dunedin to hang the Jeffrey Harris exhibition at Wellington City Gallery, Oliver Driver took him gallery crawling to learn how to look at a painting. That is, after all, the title of Paton’s new book that comes out through Awa Press in early December.

HOW TO LOOK AT A TAG
Hanging out with taggers in dark alleyways waiting for the cops to come and bust them is the domain of other current affairs shows. Here at Frontseat, we decided to spend our final episode looking at the art of graffiti. Graphic artist Sparrow Phillips takes Steven Oates on a tour of new trends in street art, which include stencils and paper cut-outs.

HE MARCHED WITH DESTINY CHURCH
Earlier this year Frontseat became aware of an exceptional new playwright on the alternative theatre scene. Julie Hill spent the year trailing around after Paul Rothwell and his disturbing and wonderful characters.

MY BROTHER AND I ARE PORN STARS
The Silo Theatre’s fastest-selling show ever was a locally devised play about twins whose parents were porn stars. But the real star of the show was a giant puppet penis who spends most of his time dishing out advice. Co-creator Jonathan Brugh talks to Frontseat about this wicked and hilarious “cross between The Blue Lagoon and Sid & Nancy”.
