Tower Breaks Ground With ‘Turf-Work’ Garden Design For 2005 Ellerslie Flower Show
TOWER is thrilled to announce that multi-award winning Ellerslie Flower Show veteran, Nigel Cameron has been commissioned to design and create ‘A TOWER Garden’. Excavators will move in on the Ellerslie Flower Show site this week to begin work on his creation, as TOWER’s silver sponsorship culminates in the creation of an exhibition garden that is set to break new ground.
With the support of TOWER an array of plants will be transformed into a diverse 'living sculpture'. This will be represented in the work of NZ landscape designer Nigel Cameron and the amazing 'turf-work' he is creating for TOWER at this year's Ellerslie Flower Show (16 - 20 November 2005).
Nigel describes his work in progress as a ‘turf-work’. “My TOWER Garden will show how turf and earth can be shaped into monumental forms, inspired by the natural history of a landscape,” says Cameron.
A central feature of the design is a sculptural representation of the TOWER Insurance signature ‘lighthouse’ logo - a beautifully crafted artwork by Nigel Cameron that stands a massive 2.8 metres high.
Mr Pieter Lindhout, CEO, TOWER Insurance, said the company is delighted to lend its support as a silver sponsor of this year’s Ellerslie Flower Show because many of its customers have a keen interest in gardening. “We are thrilled to be supporting the Ellerslie Flower Show and working in partnership with such a renowned designer. We hope to create a garden that will inspire and engage show visitors.”
‘A TOWER Garden’ will be on show at this year’s Ellerslie Flower Show from Wednesday 16 November to Sunday 20 November 2005 at Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens.
The Ellerslie Flower Show 2005 promises to be ‘Like Never Before’, with innovation, inspiration and inside knowledge. For further information on the show visit: http://www.ellerslieflowershow.co.nz. Tickets can be purchased at any Ticketek outlet, by contacting 09 307 5000, via http://www.ticketek.co.nz or in-store at any Foodtown and Woolworths supermarket nationwide.
