BATS hosts "production of the year"

11 October 2005

Kia ora BATS mates!

I.D. is the second hit in a row for BATS and should not be missed. Dominion Post

The production of the year so far in Wellington is ... performed by a small hard-working cast of Bacchanals with a tiny budget but huge energy and talent... see it you must.
Capital Times

ID closes on Saturday 15 October. And don't forget STABtacular! (and the party afterwards) on Sunday 16 October. Party details below. It's a busy week at BATS!

Love from BATS

I.D.

Season. 4th - 15th October (no show Sun/Mon)
Time. 7pm
Tickets. $16 full / $12 concession and 8+

It takes two to tango. Prime Minister and assassin. Corpse and culprit. Man and tapeworm. On 6 September 1966 in the South African House of Assembly, Demetrios Tsafendas, a parliamentary messenger, walked up to Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd, the Architect of Apartheid, and stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife. Was Tsafendas a heroic political assassin or merely a mad man, driven insane by the tapeworm that lived in his belly?

The Bacchanals are proud to present the New Zealand premiere of Antony Sher's play I.D. a historical fable, a tragi-comic portrait of the mad, bad old South Africa and of two individuals, the Prime Minister and his killer, both searching for the same thing - identity. I.D. stars former Shortland Street star Malcolm Murray as Demetrios Tsafendas.
