Top NZ Drifter Bringing Drifting To Northland

Top New Zealand Drifter Bringing Drifting To Northland.

Jairus Wharerau, New Zealand’s first D1NZ Drift Champion, is taking drifting back to his roots in Northland. Wharerau and the top NZ drift crew Driftcorp, of which he is a member, have been instrumental in introducing and raising the profile of this extreme Motorsport in New Zealand.

Driftland, fronted by Wharerau, has spent the last six months locating and preparing a suitable venue for an event to take place in Northland. The event is being held on Saturday the 24th September at the old Affco carpark off Main Rd, Moerewa. It is an expansive tarmac area that Wharerau has developed into a drift course that closely replicates the design of smaller tracks in Japan, where drifting originated.

This event is the first of its kind ever to be held in this part of New Zealand. Featuring the Republic Apparel Pro Drift Team, this demonstration event will be a fantastic opportunity to meet and see some of the best drivers in the country in action. Drivers for the day include Dan Woolhouse, Justin Rood, Adam Richards, Sean Falconer and Jairus Wharerau.

Wharerau is running this Driftland demonstration as a non-profit event, with all proceeds donated back into the local community. He is hoping that this first event will demonstrate the potential for future events at this location, and is thrilled with the support and enthusiasm he has already received from the community.

Major sponsors already on board include XSTV, Mag and Turbo Warehouse Whangarei, Rapid Radio, Republic Apparel and K-Style Carshop. This event is set to be a day worth attending, with some fantastic giveaways from these sponsors at the event including a set of mag wheels and tyres, and a car stereo. The event will commence at 10am, with entry only $5.
