Parachute Band in Wellington

Parachute Band in Wellington

It's been eight years since the internationally renowned Kiwi gospel band, The Parachute Band, toured New Zealand but this year World Vision presents them on a nationwide tour over September and October with special guest juliagrace, an electronica solo artist.

The tour will be in Wellington next Sunday 25 September (details below).

These well-known Christian music artists will be performing in churches around the country to inspire and build-up the NZ church through music and song. The tour also aims to connect Kiwis with the plight of the poor by encouraging people to action by sponsoring a child.

"For us, worship means much more than singing songs, it's also catching God's heart for humanity and that's what World Vision child sponsorship is all about – [giving] these little ones a future and a hope," says Libby Huirua, Parachute Band, lead vocalist.

The Parachute Band and juliagrace are World Vision Artist Associates, which is a mutually beneficial partnership between the aid agency and Kiwi Christian music artists.

"The artists are really committed to the poor and are passionate about the work of World Vision, and take personal responsibility to promote child sponsorship whenever and wherever they're performing," says Annette Fale, World Vision Events Manager.

In the four years the Artist Associates programme has been running, over 600 children have been sponsored. The Parachute Band NZ Tour aims to see 150 new child sponsorships.

The tour will see the Parachute Band's recently released seventh album, All the Earth, and the pre-release of juliagrace's debut solo album.

The Parachute Band NZ Tour concerts will be exceptional nights of grass-roots worship. Because the concert is part of a church's normal Sunday service there is no charge.

The Parachute Band NZ Tour – Wellington details:

Sunday 25 September
The Rock City Church, Unit 10, 4 Glover Street, Ngauranga Gorge
Time: 6.30pm
