Miss tourism World & Miss Earth New Zealand 2005 PAGEANTS TOMORROW NIGHT
Seventeen young ladies from around the country have the chance to win one of two 2005 pageant titles - Miss Earth New Zealand and Miss Tourism World New Zealand - at SKYCITY Theatre tomorrow night (show starts 8pm, Saturday September 10).
Event Director, Ros Taylor, says the show tomorrow night will be an extravaganza of entertainment - "far more than simply a catwalk beauty pageant."
"It's a variety show with choreographed routines and supported by some of New Zealand's finest talent. The girls have been rehearsing all week," she says.
The participants range in age from 17 to 26 and span the country from Kaitaia in the north to as far as Timaru in the south.
Ms Taylor says that the two titles are judged on quite different qualities so they will be awarded to two different people.
"The Miss Earth New Zealand title was launched in 2001 and is very much about the preservation of environment and Miss Tourism World has more of a tourism focus but they both compliment one another," she says.
"The titles will be awarded to two young people who stand out as an example to all young people, in conduct and determination and in their drive to become successful in their life."
