This Sunday on Frontseat

This Sunday on Frontseat, TV One 10.35pm

CENSORSHIP SHOCK IN WELLINGTON: In Wellington, a new set of murals has been commissioned to surround the inner-city Glover Park redevelopment. But Wellington City Council chief executive Gary Poole has taken it upon himself to remove one mural that he says is offensive to the homeless community that used to populate Glover Park. Censorship or Public Good? Josie McNaught asks Mr Poole what he knows about art.

CELEBRITY ELECTION BLITZ: Sam Neill, Che Fu, that bad chap Hugo from Shortland Street… Labour’s pulled out the celebrities of the art world for its election campaign. Who do the other parties have, and what effect do they really have on swinging voters? Oliver Driver and media commentator Phil Wallington chew the fat about our own versions of Bruce Springsteen and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

APPROPRIATE APPROPRIATION: A three-month collaboration between Frenchman Pascal Doudon and Taranaki artist Rangi Kipa resulted in a fascinating art exhibition, but also raised the usual questions about foreign artists appropriating Maori symbolism. Both artists give share their perspectives with Julie Hill.

DANCING FRANKLY: Dancer Bronwyn Hayward shares the very personal and harrowing events that led to her new career, and lets Frontseat onto the set of her self-funded short film “Beauty” and into rehearsals for her upcoming Bats Theatre show.

Best regards,
The Frontseat Team
