Impreza WRC 2006 unveiled
Subaru's challenger for next year's World Rally Championship has already begun testing.
The Impreza 2006 WRC will make its public debut at next month's Frankfurt Motor Show.
Showcasing the design of the new Impreza 2006 road car which will be launched in New Zealand in October, the Impreza 2006 WRC incorporates a number of significant technical changes.
Significantly electronic "active" differentials will be banned from next year's WRC, seeing a return to simpler mechanical "passive" differentials. And water injection systems for the engines have also been outlawed. Both measures have been taken to reduce costs.
Already Subaru's lead driver, Petter Solberg has said the mechanical changes favour his driving style.
The design of the latest Impreza World Rally Car continues the aggressive stance of the current model with flared wheel arches to make the most of the maximum track regulations allowed in the WRC.
More pictures and technical details will be available at the time of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
