Divine music at Michael Houstoun's fingertips

New Zealand pianist Michael Houstoun returns to the recital hall, performing his first full length recitals since his recovery from the movement-restricting complaint focal dystonia in his right hand. These four recitals for Chamber Music New Zealand will be his first since 2000.

A recent performance by the Michael was described by the Otago Daily Times recently described Michael’s performance as ‘spellbinding’, ‘heartfelt’ and ‘divine’. Michael will be performing a programme he describes as “divine music from first note to last”.

The pianist is also looking forward to returning to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Napier, cities he has enjoyed performing in many times before.

These special soirée style recitals will be a must for all piano fans. Ticket price includes a complimentary glass of wine or juice. Booking essential as seating is strictly limited.

About Michael Houstoun

Michael Houstoun has performed for CMNZ since he was a teenager, both in recital and in concert with New Zealand musicians such as the New Zealand String Quartet, Wilma Smith, Martin Riseley and Peter Scholes.

Michael's career highlights include performing and recording the 32 sonatas of Beethoven; a collaboration with Tainui Stephens on a television programme about Liszt ('Icon in B minor'); and performances with conductors Eduardo Mata, Neville Marriner, Franz Paul Decker and Alexander Lazarev.
